AUDITIONS: Now That’s What I Call Shakespeare Festival
A collection of scenes and monologues from some of Shakespeare’s most beloved shows, as well as some original works based on Shakespeare’s legacy. The show will feature moments of comedy, romance, tragedy, and intrigue. The show will perform July 18-27 at Heirloom East Bay in Castro Valley.
Most actors will be cast in multiple roles throughout the show.
Non-equity actors only. Travel stipends of $50 plus gratuity provided to all performers.
Important Dates:
Self tape and audition materials DUE: Monday, April 7
Callbacks, as needed: Friday, April 11
Rehearsal Begin: May 19
Rehearsals will be broken down by scene and scheduled based on actor availability
Performances: July 18, 19, 20, and 25, 26, 27 at 7:00pm
Self Tape Instructions:
To be considered for roles in original Shakespeare pieces, please submit a 1-2 minute Shakespearean or Shakespearean-style monologue (comedic or dramatic)
To be considered for roles in Shakespeare-inspired one acts, please submit a 1-2 minute contemporary monologue (comedic or dramatic)
You may submit two monologues to be considered for roles in both styles. Contrasting (one comedic, one dramatic) monologues preferred, but not required

- Any conflicts you may have from May 19 through July 27
- Whether or not you would be available for a virtual callback the evening of April 11

Shakespeare Originals – For the Shakespeare-original characters, genders are specified based on traditional casting of the character, but will not be strictly followed

GHOST OF EMILIA – Female. Late 20’s. Italian features. Iago’s late wife, sharp-witted and pragmatic, but with a capacity for warmth and forgiveness that occasionally surfaces.
GHOST OF RODERIGO – Male. Mid 30s. Italian features, childlike innocence, turning into bitterness.
